This is a neat application that allows the user to input their cards and their opponents cards to determine the probabilities and percentages of winning. We've heard of several players using this side by side with their computer to calculate the probabilities on the fly.
How I turned $500 into $1,000,000 playing online poker
For those of you who don’t already know who I am…my gamer name is Acel8383. I’ve spent the last 11 months devoting 100% of my ‘working’ time to playing online poker. Year to date I’ve managed to bankroll $1,045,178.05 and this is my story…
Step 1 – Play Aggressive
Starting off with a small bank roll I immediately played aggressive. My run started at PokerStars.com. This site is known for its conservative players that tend to fold mediocre hands when facing opponents with small bankrolls that bet big. As my money grew, also did the competition’s desire to call my hands…as calling increases so do your ‘bad beats’. It took me one month to take $500 and turn it into $12,000.00
Step 2 – Get Lucky
I was feeling more than good with $12k in my eWallet. I decided to get greedy and enter a $1000 buy-in tournament at Full Tilt. For those of you who have never entered an online tournament…try it!! It is better than really bad sex. 8 hours and two papa johns pizzas later I was heads up with HanSo17. Any tournament lasting this long involves a certain amount of luck and I definitely needed some to get to get this far. I went all in with A, J…and lost on the river to trip eights. Needless to say, the $70k second place prize money helped ease the pain of losing.
Step 3 – Simultaneous Multiple Tables
As I tell everyone that asks me how I ran up such an amount of money…I’d rather be lucky than good. After a month or two of slow ups and downs I hit a streak of good luck. By this time I was still going back and forth from PokerStars to FullTilt with no luck. I decided to try a new fresh site out. AbsolutePoker.com’s downloadable software runs quick and easy, especially when multiple tables are being played at once. My new Samsung dual 21 inch monitors allowed me to play 4 tables at once, all with an initial buy in of $2000. My luck streak took me from 10am to 2 pm of the following day!! No joke, I took the $8k and made it $92k By this time my roommate was more excited than I was. Three months of online poker had taken me from $500 to a little over $200,000.
Step 4 – Rinse and Repeat
11 months of tournaments, aggressive play and luck streaks have made me a full time poker play and worth a little over $1,000,000. There really isnt much point to the above story, I just find it hopefull that such a change of wealth can occur in such a short period of time.
Online Poker Now 3G iPhone Compatible
Java No Download 3G Poker
AbsolutePoker.com just released its beta system for ‘no download’ poker. This site allows a user to connect with other absolute users to play single-table games as well as multi-table poker tournaments.
The big deal appeal of this site is its Java based system. For those of you who don’t know, Java is a browser friendly based coding compatible with all browsers. The even bigger deal of this beta release is the reported compatibility with the newer Apple iPhone’s safari browser. Until now, only party poker and pacific poker have reported iPhone user compatibility; both sites do not accept American players. PokerCompatibility.com has tested this site on Internet Explorer 6 & 7, Safari (Mac’s browser) and Mozilla’s Firefox. All browsers pass with flying colors. The java based system differs from other no download systems in that it was specifically developed with Mac and Linux users in mind. Other sites offer Flash based systems which can be tougher on browsers.
